Bill and Melinda Gates are not interested in the Apple Watch

Asked by a TMZ reporter this week if she has "any interest in the Apple iWatch" (his words, not ours), Melinda Gates smiled on camera, laughed and said, "No, I'm not going to own one."

Undeterred, the reporter asked about whether her Microsoft-founder husband would be hitting an Apple Store any time soon.

"Does Bill? I mean, you guys have got to check out the competition, right?" he asked.

"No, we use Microsoft products," Gates answered, still smiling ... mostly.

"Exclusively?"

"Exclusively," she said.

Gates, who was a longtime Microsoft (MSFT, Tech30) engineer (that's how she met Bill), has been pressed on the Apple (AAPL, Tech30) question before.

In a New York Times Magazine interview in 2010, Gates was asked if she had an iPod. She said she had a Zune -- Microsoft's now defunct MP3 player.

Gates noted that her kids wanted an iPod, but she refused, offering them Zunes instead.

The Times reporter wasn't satisfied.

"Do you have an iPad?" ("Of course not.") "Is it true that Bill works on an Apple laptop?" ("False. Nothing crosses the threshold of our doorstep.") "Is there room in this world for both Apple and Microsoft? ("Go talk to Bill.")

Well, then. That seems to be that.
